Blog work on Chinese History, Tai Chu Fei (13)

I would choose the Forbidden City in China. It shows the past glory of the Chinese Empire and how the royals live in the past dynasties, spending so much resources to built such beautiful monuments and palace so huge for just the royals to live in, along with the servants that serve them. The Forbidden City is rich in history and is an enriching eye opener for tourists who come and visit the Forbidden City to learn the Chinese culture and traditions in the past, how the royals rule over the Chinese. Thus, I feel that this place is very important as this was the place where the heart of the history of China

Personal Learning Reflection: Laetitia Keok Yu Qi (07)

I have learnt that it is essential to familiarise yourself with the details of your script while making a presentation as you will feel more well prepared and thus, more at ease. it really really helps to keep yourself relaxed! (: While you feel more comfortable, it will be easier for you to interact with the audience and remain eye contact. Your body language will really show it, and the audience will enjoy themselves during your presentation— thus a win-win situation!!!! 😌

It is also very important to pace your speech, so that you do not speak too fast, andyouraudiencewillnotbeabletoreadwhatyousaid <– its just like reading, pacing yourself is like putting spacebars while speaking at appropriate places otherwise, the audience will have trouble catching your words, just like how its hard to read without spaces!

enunciation of words is also very important so that you speak clearly for the audience to understand, make sure that the starting and ending syllables of your words are loud and clear and if the word, for example, ends with a 'd' then we shouldnt pronounce it like a 't' (: practising in the mirror would help!

speaking of mirrors; smile :D at the audience!! you'll then come off as friendy, and everyone will enjoy the presentation together! it really lights up the mood.

thats all, dont forget to practise! 加油

Blogwork on Chinese History; Liang Shi Wen (9)

I would choose the picture of the stadium. It shows how much China had progressed over the recent years and have become recognized globally, which can be shown by their hosting of the 2008 olympic games and the 2010 shanghai expo. The 2008 Beijing Olympics was also a grand event and very well organised. This shows progress, as before these events, China was considerably lacking compared to western countries. However, in recent years its economic status improved rapidly and many businessmen view China as the best and most profitable market, which is a massive improvement since the time when the monarchy was still in power, and China was ruled by the Qing government.

I still remember back in 2008, my family and I specially travelled to Beijing in June, just to get a glimpse of the two Stadiums. It was truly a grand sight, and I was awed by the creativity of whoever designed the Stadium, making it look like a bird's nest. It was a pity that we were not able to go to the Olympics itself, as we had school at that time and was unable to leave Singapore... :( The Stadium is proof of the big step China has made since the olden times, and I'm sure all people from China are immensely proud of this, like how my parents are. :)

Personal Learning Reflection ( Liang Shi Wen, 2H, 9 )

I have learnt that when making a presentation, practice is extremely important. One would have to practise, in order to be familiarised with the script. This would help greatly in the presentation as one would be more confident when presenting in front of people, lessening the chances of making mistakes like using colloquial english, stuttering too much, or over reliance on script. Eye contact is also extremely important in order to make an effective presentation. Also, working with groupmates is extremely vital as well, since if we don't work together, nothing will get done. Besides, if we don't get along, the only thing we will do is to annoy the hell out of each other... If that's the case, we might as well get along! ;)

Blog work on chinese history, chua Shi Rong (24)

I would choose the Great Wall of china. It means to me as a history of china and china continued to keep the Great Wall of china even though some parts of it is broken. They kept the Great Wall of china as a tourists sightseeing where they could tell tourists the history of china like the wars and this is why the builted the great wall of china, for the other countries to have a harder time to be able to attack them easily. Tour agencies from china would earn much more money since there would be lots of tourists coming to china to sightsee the Great Wall of china since it is a history of china.

Blogwork on Chinese History; Soh Jun Han, Owen (30)

I would choose the picture of The Great Wall of China. It means to me that China is trying to keep its history to let the generations to come to see what the previous dynasties in China had done to protect China against others. It might mean to China as a way to probably earn more money from its tourist attraction. The Great Wall of China says about the rich Chinese history that is filled with many wars, and since the emperors had to protect their country, he built this wall to protect China. We can learn to value the things we have because once we lose it, we might never get it back again. This applies to the Ming Dynasty losing China out to the Manchus.

Personal Reflection Chufei (13)

I learnt to not to judge a book by its cover and to think beyond what meets the eyes. We should reflect on what it actually means and the message hidden beneath. There is also people who should not be trusted based on their looks, who may treat us nicely to get us to trust them and in turn make use of us. I also learnt about how to prepare an effective presentation by using a simple and concise information in slideshows, speak in an audible and clear voice at an appropriate pace to bring out the message of the presentation.

Personal learning reflection Chua Shi Rong (24)

From the lesson, i have learn that when we are speaking to the audience,we should look at them constanly when we are speaking and should look at all the audience not only one. I also learn that we should stand straight while speaking as an act of respect to the audience rather than sloping as it will shows that you speak for the sake of speaking. I also learn that we should speak loudly so that the audience can hear us clearly rather than a soft voice which the audience may not understand or could not hear. From what i learn, it will help me in all my speech.
