I feel that the one child policy helps to China to manage their rapid popuation growth, as well as to prevent overcrowding. While the reasons behind the one child policy is justifiable, but that does not mean that they do not come with disadvantages. While this is uncommon right now, this policy used to cause parents, especially those from rural areas, to abandon or kill baby girls, (how gruesome O_o) as they held males in higher regard, which is the traditional thinking of the Chinese. This is resulting misbalance in genders in China, where there are more males than females...
I have a few cousins who live in China, (after all both my parents grew up there) and one of them shared with me that he feels lonely when left at home alone as he has no one to keep him company when his parents are away for work. I would never be able to understand how he feels as I have two siblings, but does this one child policy make the children happy? I think not. :((((((Sunday, 20 April 2014

i feel that the one child policy helps to manage the rapid popuation growth in china, as well as to prevent overcrowding in the different countries. however, it might also be a contributing factor to the declination in population overtime, when a couple is only allowed to have one child unless the first child has a physical disability, or in some cases, is a girl, but it was even worse in the past!!! superstitious chinese couples used to (and some still do) abort the baby after they found out it was a girl, after that led to a misbalance in genders, the government finally released a rule that did not allow the parents to know of their child's gender during pregnancy, as a result, many baby girls were abandoned in the past because their parents wanted a baby boy instead ):
the attached book is for your leisure and some stories from it depicts the sadness, sufferings and pain of loss of a chinese mother who has gone through abandoning/aborting their baby girls. we found out about that book during geog and i found it interesting so i looked for it and read it. ;-; so sad..
((but, on a side note, i dont agree with the one child policy because i feel that it limits the number of children a couple can have, and if they like children, it's such a waste; also, even though it helps to manage the popuation growth, it also leads to couples getting stressed over what gender their child is))

Blog work on China's Economy, Tai Chu Fei (13) 2H
China when perusing for higher economic growth, more factories will be built and more industrialisation will occur, thus leading to polluted air which may in turn affect the people's health and the ecosystem and enviroment in China. Though striving for higher economic growth means more polluted enviroment in China, there are some measures which could be taken to reduce pollution. Using green technology and putting restraint on the factories carbon footprints could encourage less pollution to be released into the air. The congested traffic and astonishing number of cars on the road during peak hours in many cities also contribute to the pollutions, the government could encourage the people to take more of the public transport, raise the price of vehicles in China to reduce air pollution caused by transportation.

I choose the forbidden city in china as it shows the rich history of china, and the way the citizens lived during the qing dynasty, and re-ennacts the scene for the royals in the chinese empire. just like in rv-lit, where we learn about china's past! now, we learn it in cid too (:
as for tourists, the forbidden city is a place for them to learn about china's traditions and culture during the past, eg. how china was ruled, who their rulers were, and so much more! it is definitely a truly enriching place for both tourists and the chinese citizens. p
even though i've lived in china for 4 years and more, i've never been to the forbidden city, or any other places if interest there! i really feel that it's a pity that i didnt visit the places after being super close to the countries! if i had known so much about them earlier, i would've persuaded my parents to bring me there 😔😔😔
buttttttt... on a lighter note, many resources were used to build the forbidden city, and thus it should forever be preserved and regarded as an important part of china— reminding everyone of China's rich history; and also so that i can visit them some day:))

Blog work on China-Economy, Soh Jun Han, Owen (30) 2H
Higher economic growth would mean that the productivity of items would have to be greater. This would lead to more factories being built, and since factories produce a lot of unhealthy gases that lead to air pollution, China's air pollution will increase greatly. Low economic growth=Less pollution, and High economic growth=More pollution. China will have to choose one of this choices, and sacrifices would have to be made.

Activity 2: The china one child policy helps to control the population of china. It also helps to maintain woman's health. It will also help to have balance in the sex in china. But those people in china who want more children would not like this policy as they are only limited to one child unless that child is a girl or is disabled.
