What is school life in RVHS?

a) The environment is bustling with life, with good friends talking with each other. Even the teachers look very happy today.

b) Person A: I am feeling very happy today. P.E lesson today was enjoyable as our class played captain's ball together, and it was a long time since we played together. I feel that my class is more bonded! Person A was grinning happily, and he showed me his enthusiasm as he moved his hands when he talked. He gave a 'cheese' sign at the end of our conversation.

c) There is CNY decorations in my class, for the upcoming CNY decoration competition and for the traditional Chinese New Year! My class is working together, and the teamwork makes the decorations special! I hope we can win the upcoming CNY decoration competition, and win glory for our class!!!
d) Seeing my friends decorating the walls with red packets impresses me the most. They are working together peacefully without any arguments, and this shows our class spirit! I hope that we can work together more often next time!:)

e) I think that school life for RVians in RV is enjoyable and bonded! Everyone helps each other whenever anyone is in need. And I always see a happy smile on everyone's face whenever my class goes down for assembly. I hope this culture can continue forever!:)

POVERTY IN SINGAPORE?

Video on poverty in singapore: http://m.youtube.com/watch?gl=SG&v=RSEB8P3DAnk&hl=en-GB&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DRSEB8P3DAnk%26hl%3Den-GB%26gl%3DSG
Poverty in Singapore is rare, even though quite a number of people are poor. Poverty in Singapore generally means that the household income of the family is below average. Health issues and family circumstances are the main reasons for poverty. For health issues, the family has to sacrifice money to pay for healthcare. This would lead to loss of money. Since taxes and bills in Singapore cost a lot, the family would keep running out of money. It is important that the government do something, to help those in need so as to make sure they do not suffer. Money-saving programs should be set up for those in need of money. Our group hopes the government would do more to benefit those in need.

Chufei's holiday reflections 2H (13)

I think I had a rather interesting December holiday this year. It started out as an ordinary school holiday and was just staying at doing my holiday homework, revising what I had learnt that year in school. My parents suggested my brother and I visit our grandparents back in Malaysia. We were obviously closer to our grandmothers so we decided to take this chance to spend some quality time with our paternal grandfather. I had a fruitful time with my grandfather even though he is a quiet man, his actions are louder than words. My grandfather always stay at home and rarely interact with others. Iearnt that I should take the initiative to strike up a conversation and bond with him than cope up in my room.
Another highlight of my vacation is when I visit one of the newest tourist attraction this year, River Safari at the Singapore Zoo. I saw many one of a kind animals such as the leopards, the manatees and of course, the iconic giant pandas. It was very fascinating and amusing watching the pandas in their enclosure and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kai Kai loves lazing outside his den and munching on bamboo leaves while Jia Jia, being a female, is more shy and spends most of her time in her private den sleeping. However, I managed to catch a glimpse of her when she was outside her den having a snack. She loves the attention given by the visitors and even posed for photos taken by them but she was quick to return to her den soon after. Kai Kai on the other side, was very laid-back and was eating and napping all the time. Amusingly, he had an itch on his rear end and had to scratch it against the trees which caused a ripple of laughter among the visitors. Even though it was a interesting experience, I feel sorry for the animals that are in captivity, only being able spent their lives in an enclosure, shut out from the wild and the natural habitat. They might be fed and cared for regularly like a pet, but I do not think that is their true animalistic nature.
In conclusion, I feel that I had a fruitful and interesting December holiday.

Laetitia's holiday reflections 2H (07)

In all, the holidays were a little dull for me as did not go overseas nor did i go out often, particularly the first few weeks which were spent on my CCA, Chinese Orchestra. We had many practice time-slots throughout each week and the practices were very lengthy not to mention a little boring. However, all the practicing from CCA had paid off when i took the exam for Grade 6 in 二胡 during the earlier parts of December. Almost all the time spent after CCA practices ended were dedicated to practicing for my music exam. It proved worth it after i received the results stating that i had passed with merit.

The highlight for my holidays however, was my birthday. I went iceskating with my friends and successfully passed the 2 hours in the rink without falling, even though it got a blister after that, i had a great time spending my birthday with my friends. We had a lot of catching up to do as we didn't see much of each other during the holidays due to our busy schedules in the earlier parts of the holiday. The presents didn't matter of course but they were all lovely and i felt very blessed to have such amazing friends. After a nice dinner (and cake) with my family, i headed home and thus sums up my entire birthday. The cake was one of the best cakes i had in my entire life.

Christmas was very well spent at my cousin's house playing and completing some unfinished homework. We then exchanged presents and spent the rest of the night lazing on the sofa watching television programs. It was a very warm and relaxing christmas.

Although slightly uneventful, i had a great time bonding with my family and spending time with my friends outside school.

Shirong holiday reflection 2H(24)

My holidays were quite boring for me as during the holidays I would have basketball training since my cca is basketball. When I'm not having training I would be watching Korean variety shows and doing my homework. During December, I would play basketball at a nearby basketball court with my teammates since our teacher went overseas and instructed us to play some basketball in order not to get rusty. Since my holidays were just playing basketball watching shows and doing my homework I think that my holidays were quite boring.

Shiwen's holiday reflections (09)

I think my December holidays of 2013 were very well spent. My entire November was dedicated to my CCA, Choir. We have spent many hours together to practice and make our performance, Cantare, a good concert. The concert day was quite possibly the best day I've had in the year. It was a brilliant mixture of exhaustion, fun, frustration, joy and accomplishment. It was tiring no doubt, but looking back, I'm glad that I had such an experience. If we did not have this concert, the only thing I would be doing is staying at home, with only homework, a few canvases and paint for company.
The next highlight in my holidays is my trip to Bali, Indonesia with my family. To be frank, the trip was rather dull. Through the span of four days, we were plagued by incessant rain. We stayed in a brilliant hotel—the best I have ever stayed in—that had a beautiful beach, but we hardly had any chance to enjoy it due to the rain. We also went to one of the volcanoes, expecting great views after a 3 hour journey on the car, but we were greeted with a ridiculous amount of fog from the rain, and couldn't even catch a glimpse of the volcano. However, we did manage to get a taste of the famous Kopi Luwak. However, I was rather horrified seeing the civets in relatively small cages, but there were only a few, obviously only for tourists to visit. Also, I am certainly not an expert coffee taster, and the coffee tasted just like any other. Quite a waste in my opinion, but I did get a taste of other coffees and teas that I enjoyed. On the last day of the trip, which was Christmas day, We got a blessing of sun, and spent our morning at the beach. Regretfully, it started raining in the later part of the day, when we were at the airport about to return the home. In all it was a brilliant holiday.
